
San Jose Scale
Scientific name: Quadraspidiotus perniciosus (Comstock)
(Homoptera: Diaspididae)
Facts: San Jose scales are very tiny insects covered with small gray or brownish-gray waxy scales about 1/10 inch across, each with a raised spot in the center. They are found on twigs and fruit. Twigs covered with their gray coating have the appearance of ashes.
